5 Repton boys Win titles !

...Another busy weekend for Repton BC. The ABA North East Divs were held at East London University. We entered 10 Boxers, but unfortunately 4 boxers at the same weight, Under 67kgs,  had to battle it out for a place in the Finals. This Welterweight Final will be held this Thursday 28th Feb at Fairfield Hall between Repton Boxers George Mahoney and Sam McNess.

Below are the rest of the Results from the wekeends Action...

First up was our featherweight Chris Ali. looking Good and boxing clever he beat Matthew Chanda from the Crown and Manor Club, to take the under 57 kgs title. Next Repton boxer Ramarrio Wallace at Light welter got a walkover to take the 63.5 Division title. The 67 kgs will be decided on Thursday between Repton pals George O'Mahoney & Sam McNess. Repton boxer Joe Baker got beat in a tough fight by West Ham boy Luke Saunders in the Final.

Next up, another tough bout for Repton boxer Bobby Foreman, who got beat by Charlie Russell from the Lansbury Club. The Under 81 kgs title ws taken by Repton Boxer Umar Sadiq and The under 86 kgs title was taken by Repton Cruiserweight Simon Lewis.

As a result we have 5 NE Divs Champs and 5 boys through to the London ABA Finals. The venue was perfect for the boxing, but not very well attended. I think this could be through the lack of information available to the general public. We need to see more pro-active promoting from the ABA to get a decent audience. The internet is an obvious medium to advertise details of this Major Annual Boxing Event. We need more support for these events and the way to get it, is to give the general public as much info as possible !
